Having had Venice on my bucket list for some time, we thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience despite hearing mixed reviews. However, the highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the lunch we had at Hotel Cipriani. Part of the renowned Belmond collection, known for its top-notch luxury offerings, this hotel stands out for its unique location. The hotel is located on its own private island, adding to its charm and exclusivity. For a stylish arrival, make your way to Harry's Bar and catch the hotel's water taxi, which shuttles to the island every 20 minutes or so. It's advisable to have some small notes handy to tip the driver.

Upon our arrival at the island, we were greeted by several team members who welcomed us with a wave and a warm smile. They guided us through the grounds to Il Porticciolo restaurant, which specializes in oysters and seafood made with local ingredients. Situated right at the water's edge, the setting immediately transports you, giving the impression of being on a movie or old Hollywood set.

The timeless decor featured a nautical theme with varnished wood, scalloped umbrellas, and fresh flowers, but ultimately, the main attraction was the breathtaking view and the tranquil surroundings.
When we arrived, the restaurant was quiet which actually allowed us to take it all in. It would be hard to refuse a glass of Champagne from the lovely Dom Perignon Champagne Cart if you are celebrating something or just a champagne lover.

We enjoyed an array of seafood dishes all washed down by some delicious white wine. The oysters had such a depth of flavor.
During lunch, we couldn't help but overhear the conversation at the next table. A gentleman in his late seventies turned down water, boldly declaring that wine was his one and only beverage of choice. Talk about commitment to a grape cause!

In truth, we did enjoy our Venice lunch reservation, but what truly sealed the deal for us was the entire experience of arriving to the island by water taxi and the restaurants setting which was completely magical.
Although the hotel exudes a certain charm, it seems a bit tired and could benefit from some renovations. I have a fondness for antiques and value history, but I believe it could use a revitalization in some areas.
In Venice, you have various other 5-star hotel options such as:
St Regis (definitely join the mixologists at the beautiful bar and enjoy one of their creations)
For a delightful and memorable dining experience, it is highly recommended to reserve a table for lunch at Il Porticciolo.
